Ballet is a requirement for all DREAM Conservatory dancers with the exceptions of hip hop and tumble classes. Ballet provides the essential foundation of technique, posture, coordination, and skill progression that translates to success in every genre of dance.
Our class age guidelines align with school grade levels. Students must be the minimum advertised age for each class by September 1st each year. The director may allow exceptions and enroll younger dancers in higher levels based on their demonstrated technique and skill mastery, ensuring an appropriate challenge.
We follow the MISD holiday calendar for major breaks when the studio is closed:
- Memorial Day weekend
- Independence Day (July 4th)
- Labor Day weekend
- Thanksgiving Break - closed Wednesday through Sunday
- Winter Break - closed for two weeks around Christmas and New Year's
- Spring Break - closed for the full week
The studio remains open and classes are held during other MISD school closing days such as staff development days or bad weather days. This provides continuity in training throughout the dance season.
Required ballet training, thoughtful age group placement, and a reliable studio calendar allow students to progress and build their skills over time in an encouraging environment.
